We encourage getting involved with your local fire department.

Citizen’s Fire Academy

The Concord Township Fire Department is offering a Citizens Fire Academy to provide an opportunity for area residents to learn about the services provided by the Concord Fire Department and the programs available to the community.

The class will meet one evening per week from 6:30-9:30 for 10 weeks. In addition, ride along and extra activities will be scheduled. Upon successful completion of the academy program there will be a graduation ceremony with certificates issued.

Volunteer

Volunteer firefighters are an important piece of the American landscape. While large paid fire departments may receive much of the media attention, the majority of fire fighters in America are volunteers.

There is no distinguishment in the national training standards for paid or volunteer fire fighters. All fire fighters are held to same standards and guidelines for training and operations. In other words, your volunteer fire fighters will have received the same training as paid fire fighters.

Most of the volunteer fire fighters feel called to serve their community. They are our friends, neighbors, and coworkers who sacrifice free time to serve their community. Volunteer fire fighters come from all walks of life; police officers, plumbers, salesman, construction workers, and any other occupation you can imagine.

Volunteer fire fighters at Concord Township Fire Department also volunteer for many other community organizations due to their desire to serve. Our members are involving in Little League, soccer clubs, service groups, non-profit organizations, and many other community service activities.

Volunteers received only a small amount of funds from the community to allow them to buy personal equipment and reimbursement of costs such a damaged clothing and fuel.

Volunteers are essential to small communities that simply could never afford full-time paid fire fighters. The small communities still experience fires, ill and injured persons and disasters that require trained fire personnel. Your local volunteer fire fighter is there to fill that need.
